Pastor Appreciation Month with a different twist

I was having a a bit of a tough time turning on the radio this month.  I like to listen to Family Life Network and they really talk up pastor appreciation month.  I found out I was a very spoiled pastor the past couple of years.  I came from a church that appreciated their pastors well.

It’s tough being the new pastor in a church that is having difficulty through a pastor transition.  I have had a group of hurting people in my congregation that need to be loved and appreciated.  They have been hurting for a few months.

So, I decided to use the month of October to appreciate the people in my church.  I have sent them notes, left little messages of thanks, and am trying to get a meal to a few of the people I pastor.

Pastor appreciation month is also a good reminder to us pastors to remember to appreciate our congregations just as much as we appreciate them doing so for us.

This year I am working on being an appreciative pastor rather than an appreciated one during pastor appreciation month.

    Pastor Darlene:
What a wonderful idea. You are so thoughtful. I hope God will use it to bless the congregation and you as well. I pray that this will help the transition to go better. I still miss you at Northgate. Thank you for being you. You’re wonderful!!

PS I finally have internet at home. All of the pastor bloggers convinced me it was time to dive in.

Darlene–It is great to see that a pastor appreciates her congregation and makes a verbal attempt at letting them know–I hope you know you were apprecited and now missed at Northgate..I do appreciate all my pastors –ones from the past and the ones we have right now–God has really blessed NOrthgate with the pastors who have been a part of our church–Each one brought a special blessing. NOw we are going to keep growing and God will send special blessings with the “special” pastors we have now.
    God Bless you. Marsha

As one of the people who did receive one of Pastor Darlene’s cards, I was very grateful for the encouragement and the kind words, it even brought a tear to my eye knowing that it really did come from her heart and that meant the world to me. I know Darlene has been having difficulties with this transistion but I do want her and everyone else know that not everyone has issues and that we do appriecate what she has done and is going to continue to do for our church, I like Pastor Darlene am very excited about what God is going to do for our church. I just wish everyone could see it…

    God Bless you Darlene!!!

    Love ya!!
